Rose moss

RHODOBRYUM ROSEUM

mosses

Rose moss is a small leaf moss that has large leaves growing as a dense ornamental crown at the end of its upright arm-stems. These vertical branches resemble little palm trees.

Rose moss grows on moist soil and on foliage covered rocks, grove-like forests, lush peat forests, shady gardens and wet meadows. Prevalence area covers the northern hemisphere, at temperate and cool zones.

Rose moss is an herbaceous plant that contains ursolic acid, flavonoids and alkaloids. Rose moss has also been used in medical research on heart disease.

Rose moss grows abundantly in nutrient-rich groves. The management of its habitats must take account of the specific features of the habitat and the overall objective is to improve the livelihood of the native species typical of that habitat.
